Rafael Isidro Parra-Peña S. is coursing the PhD in Economics at University of Sussex at Brighton (UK) (2014). He has a Master of Arts (MA) in International Economics from the University of Sussex (2008), a Master (MSc) (2005) and a Bachelor in Economics (2003) from the Universidad de los Andes, Colombia.

Currently, Mr. Parra-Peña is the Executive Director of the “Centro de Estudios Regionales Cafeteros y Empresariales” (Center for Coffee Regional and Business Studies, CRECE), Colombian Coffee Growers Federation (FNC). He has previously worked as a public policy economist analyst of the Decision and Policy Analysis Area (DAPA) of the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). As an economist Mr. Parra-Peña has more than 14 years of work expirence.
Previously, Rafael worked for the International Finance Corporation based at Washington D.C and Bogotá. He also have worked as an Economist for the United Nation’s Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean ECLAC/CEPAL based at Santiago de Chile and Bogotá, the UNDP, the National Planning Department and the Colombian Presidency. In addition, Parra-Peña has teaching experience. He used to teach an external course on applied econometrics and development at the Universidad de los Andes.

Major achievements: Rafael at ECLAC produced competitiveness report of Colombian regions and cities “Escalafón de la competitividad de los departamentos en Colombia” and “Metrópolis de Colombia: aglomeraciones y desarrollo”. On the other hand, Rafael was part of the World Bank team that produced a Subnational Doing Business report for Colombia.
